Michael Baser, graduado del City College de New York en 1974. Después comenzó su carrera como guionista, productor, creativo y productor de series de TV, como son Good Times, The Jeffersons, One Day At A Time, Maude, A Year At The Top, Carter Country, Three's Company, 9 to 5, What's Happening, Melba, Full House, We Got It Made, Campus Cops, Rhythm & Blues, Smart Guy and So Little Time, también realizó una docena de pilotos para ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox. Ha trabajado constantemente como guionista/productor en la televisión americana y películas a lo largo de 33 años.

Vancouver Film School (VFS), one of the most distinguished entertainment arts institutions in the world, will be offering this year's GIFF participants the opportunity to participate in a shortfilm writing workshop. From all scripts submitted, 12 screenplays and writers will be selected to participate in the workshops led by Michael Baser, Department Head for VFS's Writing for Film & Television Program. The 12 finalists will be split into two groups and participate in a three-day writing workshop during the Festival.
